Over the next few days or weeks, I’m going to take a journey with this blog and my business. It all started with a change in my domain name. Now instead of people trying to remember http://lindsay.bluh.org, since it is very random, they will only have to remember CraftyLindsay.com. Much more catchy, isn’t it? 🙂
Today being a happy holiday Monday, I decided to make good use of it and get something done that I’ve been meaning to do for months and months. And that was to take pictures of every single card I have in my actual inventory. Accomplished! The second step was to get them all resized so they could be posted. Accomplished! Now, I have to post all of these cards. That may take some time! 🙂 My goal is to have two inventories. One listing all the cards I currently have made and are ready to sell at a moment’s notice. The second inventory is a listing of all the cards I have made and can make again. These I wouldn’t have readily available but upon request, I could make them up.
Along with all the blog changes, I also want to order myself some business cards and become all official and stuff! But that means thinking up a business name of sorts. I’ve been pretty stuck on this one. I made a list a few days ago and vetted it around my friends but there was no consensus. I think I have to go back to the drawing board on that one.
Anyway, stayed tuned, dear reader and there will be many more posts to come! Promise!
As promised, here is the first of possibly several baby blankets that I’ve knitted!! I have no idea why all my friends have decided to have kids and all at the same time, nonetheless! I’m pretty sure those in question don’t actually read this blog, which in this case, is a good thing! I already started to knit the second blanket. The next one is going to be a pretty purple. Hopefully both will be generic enough in colour considering we don’t know the genders yet. I’m not entirely sure I like the edging on it. Maybe the next one will turn out better but it’s still neat that I managed to finish one!
Next up is my Christmas tree! 🙂 We made to put it all together tonight. We’re saving the decorating until another night. I’m in the middle of making some new ornaments so they had better be dry by the time we want to decorate tomorrow! At some point, my goal is to have a whole tree filled with just homemade ornaments. We’ll have to wait and see how that goes. I may need to search the internets for new ideas.
I’ll have some new adorable Christmas cards to show you next time! Until then…
My baking class has ended for another term and while I’ll be sad that there are no more smells of freshly baked bread, it does mean that I will have my weekends back!! Expect new projects to be posted soon!!
I’ve been concentrating on knitting a friend a baby blanket for her soon-to-be and I finished it this week! I’ll post pictures soon.
When I haven’t been making cards, I’ve been going pretty knit crazy lately! I think I’ve been averaging a scarf every 2-3 days. I’m sad that I haven’t really progressed past the scarf stage but at least they’re pretty! I finally made one using a pattern so that’s something! 🙂 Here are the pretty scarves in the pretty colours! I even decided to make some adorable baby scarves, only to learn that you shouldn’t really put a scarf on a baby… Who knew?
I don’t think I’ve yet posted a picture of my completed quilt top! Even though I hate it now, I’m still proud that I made it this far. The next stage is just to actually quilt it altogether. You know, that will only take a year or so. No problem at all!
Charles made me a new lightbox today! I was so excited that I had to celebrate by making 38 Christmas cards and taking pictures of them!! 🙂 I wanted to get an early start this year because the holidays always seem to creep up on me and I’m just so unprepared most years. Here are some samples of the cards I made this weekend! I went a little rub-on crazy… Can I say how excited I am that my pictures are not blurry for the first time in, like, forever!? Thanks to Caroline Lebel for a lot of the great ideas!
I’ll also be adding a Christmas Card section to my inventory list! 🙂
I finally finished all my quilting squares and I’ve started putting them together! It’s funny when you get this far and then realize that this was actually the easiest part!
When my friend, Bri, and I first started our quilting class, I thought I would never make it every week and sew together my four squares a week. We never thought it was going to end. And then we learned that once we made all of our squares and put them together, then the hard part started. Hand quilting all the layers of the quilt together in the end is going to take FOREVER! Something I’m not looking forward to but I’m very happy to have Bri pushing me along each step of the way!
Here’s what the layout of my particular quilt. I’m kind of hating it right now and I’m really looking forward to starting my next quilt. What is it about starting projects and never wanting to finish them? I think that’s what I like about making cards so much! They take so little time that I can’t start to hate them before I’m already done! 🙂
I have finished all my current orders. Now I’m going to start with the fun stuff! I’m thinking robots and monsters!! The big order is coming tomorrow and I can’t wait!
Well, in the middle of making all of these cards, I’m also working on half a dozen other crafting projects! I’m knitting two different scarves for other people and one for myself. I’m also trying to learn how to knit a hat! I’m cross-stitching a Reiki symbol design that I created for a friend. Finally, I’m participating in a charity cross-stitch quilt exercise, based on old school video games and a couple new ones as well! I need to cross-stitch two 6″x6″ squares for that. I’ve created the pattern for one (Mario!!) but I still need some inspiration for the second one! It’s going to be a busy year!
As I start to finish some of these crafts, I’ll post them as well. I should have some new card designs finished by the weekend and I’ll put them up when I do! Right now I’m just trying to fill the Valentine’s card orders before the big day hits and then I’m on to the birthday card orders. I have over 20 cards to make for people of just the designs that I’ve already posted! 🙂 Since I managed to get some more great paper last night, I am good to go!
Just a few images to start with of my craft room! A spot of my very own with fun and entertainment! No more taking over the kitchen table for me!
